Gymboree stores sell clothes and accessories for young children in the
U.S., Canada and Europe. The company asked for our help when it was
challenged by filling ever-increasing orders through its Internet site,
the result of aggressive direct mail marketing. The number of products, or
SKUs, was increasing dramatically, as well. Our collective goal was to
implement automation to replace several manual, inefficient processes—in
time for the next peak season.
Our recommendation for meeting Gymboree’s needs cost-effectively was to
enhance current processes in its Dixon, California facility with
automated, high-speed sortation equipment. The installed sorter gave the
company the ability to sort 14,400 pieces per hour and saved more than
10,000 square feet of workspace—in time for the upcoming peak season.
