Material Handling Systems Selection & Implementation

Applied Biosystems supplies life science firms and research institutes with a host of products and services for researching genes and proteins, studying how drugs interact with the body's systems and genetic makeup, testing food and the environment for contaminants, and performing DNA-based identification. The company asked Sedlak to design a new centralized warehouse.

Sedlak implemented an automated material handling system and in-line shipping/labeling/sorting system. In addition, Sedlak guided the company in selecting and implementing the Catalyst warehouse management system.

As a result of Sedlak's work, Applied Biosystems eliminated manual processes and improved production. They realized improved inventory visibility, control and accuracy. Laborers found improved ergonomics and efficiencies with “front door” style entry to coolers and freezers. Most importantly, customer service improved.
