Success Stories << Clients Facility Planning & Design![]() Limited Brands is a $10 billion specialty retailer offering apparel and personal care products for women, men and children through various retail channels. We have worked almost continuously with Limited for nearly 30 years. Projects have included work in the various channels planning and designing new facilities, as well as modifying existing operations. Recently, we worked with one of its business segments, Victoria's Secret Direct, which reaches more than 390 million clients each year through Victoria's Secret Catalogue and the company’s website, one of the fastest growing and profitable e-commerce destinations on the Internet. We assisted Limited Brands in designing and implementing a new multi-brand direct-to-consumer fulfillment facility for Victoria’s Secret and other future direct channel interests. ![]() Pacific Sunwear of California (PacSun) targets young men and women with name-brand casual apparel, shoes and accessories. Stores feature clothing by JNCO, Billabong, Paul Frank, Globe, Dickies and Fox Racing, as well as footwear by hip oldster Vans, among others. PacSun also sells its own private-label merchandise (Bullhead, Breakdown, Good Vibes, and Tilt). Sedlak was asked to integrate four business entities into a single new facility using common material handling and systems infrastructure, design and implement all components of the material handling system and information systems, and meet the demands of an aggressive schedule encompassing fewer than twelve months from ground-break to completion. Our project team implemented a seamless transition to the new distribution center from the current facility. We coordinated all aspects of the material handling and information systems implementation to bring the facility on line—on time and under budget. Recently, we worked with Staubach Company to find an appropriate location for a new PacSun distribution facility. We guided PacSun in selecting a site, designed the 445,000 sq. ft. facility, and selected both the general contractor and material handling systems for it. On behalf of PacSun, we managed the construction and implementation project on-site. ![]() Nordstrom is a specialty retailer of ready-to-wear fashion apparel, shoes, and accessories and is renowned for its high level of customer service. When Nordstrom expanded services to include a direct mail operation, Sedlak was brought in to develop a strategic plan for fulfillment that would be both cost-effective and customer service-oriented. Based on growth projections, business plans, and statistical data collected during facility analysis, we designed a 300,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility, as well as systems to support projected sales growth, gain operational efficiencies, and provide ease of future expansion. The fulfillment center was completed on time and within budget, with no disruption to service. The facility supported Nordstrom’s rapidly evolving catalog fulfillment needs, providing flexibility to adapt to changing merchandising requirements and rapidly expanding sales volumes, while maintaining its traditionally exceptional customer service.
