Cleveland, Ohio – The Golden Age Centers of Greater Cleveland, an established non profit organization providing meals and supportive services to at risk seniors throughout Greater Cleveland since 1954, and Sedlak Management Consultants (Sedlak), a global consulting firm, have entered into a unique collaboration and partnership, which is strengthening home delivered meal services to thousands of homebound seniors in the Greater Cleveland area.
As a result of a grant from The Cleveland Foundation, the Golden Age Centers contacted Cuyahoga Community College, Workforce and Economic Development Division, who, as a result of their partnership with Sedlak Management Consultants Inc., a supply chain consulting firm specializing in distribution consulting, were able to assist the Golden Age Centers with high quality services. According to Brett Jones, Director of the Logistics and Distribution Institute, “I saw an opportunity to leverage one community resource to help another and we did that. We like to see professional services like the ones offered by Sedlak Management utilized to improve important community based organizations like Golden Age Centers. Now that the operational process is undergoing a reengineering, we will be looking to develop the workforce training plan that will support the deployment and execution of new job functions related to transportation, distribution and logistics.”
Sedlak provided logistical and operational consulting to the Golden Age Centers to help strengthen their home delivered meal program, which delivers frozen and fresh meals to seniors, primarily low income, which are homebound due to illness and disability. The Golden Age Centers of Greater Cleveland are a primary provider of home delivered meals to homebound seniors in the Greater Cleveland area, serving hundreds of home delivered meals a day.
According to James Armour, President and CEO of the Golden Age Centers of Greater Cleveland, “The number of homebound seniors in Greater Cleveland needing home delivered meals has increased dramatically over the past several years. For the vast majority of these seniors, the home delivered meal provided by the Golden Age Centers is the only nutritious meal and human contact they will receive that day. We are most grateful to Sedlak, a global firm, for providing superior consulting services to the Golden Age Centers, a local non profit organization. As a result of Sedlak’s expertise and commitment to the Greater Cleveland community, our home delivered meal program will benefit from improved food quality and even greater cost efficiencies, and will help us keep pace with the increasing demand for service. Sedlak’s commitment to the Greater Cleveland community is to be commended and is most appreciated. It will have a tremendous impact on our current and future operation in this area.”
“As Sedlak’s president, I am very proud of our accomplishments and commitment to the Golden Age Centers and particularly for the outstanding work by our senior manager, Brian Neale,” stated Jeffrey B. Graves. “It was through Brian’s efforts and tenacity, a comprehensive diagnostic of Golden Age’s Home Delivery Meal (HDM) operations was successfully completed. Yes. Sedlak is a global leader in supply chain logistics; however, there is no greater pride than enriching the lives within the community where Sedlak was founded and continues to reside…Northeast Ohio,” resounded Jeffrey Graves.
